Job Description
The Corrugator Operator is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of corrugator machinery, including the single facer, roll stands, roll stock, and glue pumps. This role emphasizes quality control, machine maintenance, and supervisory duties, such as training and leading the team. The Operator ensures efficiency, safety, and compliance with standards in the production of high-quality corrugated products.
Responsibilities
- Operate and manage single facers, double facers, and double backers to achieve optimum production levels and quality, working with corrugators, but not limited to BHS Corrugated, Fosber, Marquip Ward United, and BW Papersystems.
- Inspect and ensure quality during the lamination process on the single facer and other associated equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and making minor adjustments to maintain equipment performance. Promptly notify supervisors of the need for repairs or replacement parts.
- Conduct thorough inspections of the finished product to ensure adherence to quality specifications.
- Maintain waste generation at or below budgeted standards and ensure full compliance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Participate in and ensure the department complies with YUM!/AIB audit regulations and adhere to all safety rules, executing all job duties in a safe manner.
- Act as a supervisor, conducting training among other lead duties, and support the training of wet-end and dry-end personnel.
- Compile production reports and perform all required customer and departmental quality checks.
- Ensure effective communication within the team and immediate communication of any safety or quality issues to the Supervisor.
- Perform scheduled machine Preventive Maintenance (PMs) and enter work orders as needed.
- Communicate machine issues via the work order process and safely assist in getting the machine back up with minimal downtime.
Skills
- Comprehensive machine-specific knowledge, including operations, capabilities, light maintenance, and safety requirements.
- Proven ability to achieve product quality standards and efficiently manage waste generation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience in troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong computer literacy.
- Flexibility to work overtime, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in the corrugated industry with a strong preference for leadership roles.
- Openings to working both day and night shifts
