Job Description

The Cutting Manager will be responsible for leading the day to day operation of the Cutting Department. This role will require having knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees in the die cutting operation
  • Facilitate interactions between Department Managers to coordinate interdepartmental operations and activities
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals 
  • Inspect materials, products or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
  • Ensure quality work output: perform quality checks, approvals, and in-process inspections 
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations, safety procedures, or other company-directed tasks 
  • Interpret specifications, job tickets, and company policies and procedures for workers 
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs 
  • Performs preventive maintenance, including minor repairs, adjusting/modifying dies, and the use of matrix when necessary 
  • Prepares loads, loads material, and removes loads of material from the machine when needed
  • Inspects finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity and defects
  • Lift, position and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables

  • Experience on Bobst equipment
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience operating die cutting equipment in the printing or packaging industry - folding carton experience required
  • Minimum five years in a management or supervisory role
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
