Job Description

The Department Manager will be responsible for leading the day to day operation of the department. This position will report to the Plant Manager and will also be responsible for operating equipment and meeting production expectations. He/she will have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.   • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees in the die cutting operation
  • Facilitate interactions between Department Managers to coordinate interdepartmental operations and activities
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals 
  • Inspect materials, products or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
  • Ensure quality work output: perform quality checks, approvals, and in-process inspections 
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations, safety procedures, or other company-directed tasks 
  • Interpret specifications, job tickets, and company policies and procedures for workers 
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs 
  • Performs preventive maintenance, including minor repairs, adjusting/modifying dies, and the use of matrix when necessary 
  • Prepares loads, loads material, and removes loads of material from the machine when needed
  • Inspects finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity and defects
  • Lift, position and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables
  • Strong mechanical ability
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with management team
  • Strong work ethic
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience operating die cutting equipment in the printing or packaging industry
  • Minimum five years in a management or supervisory role
  • Experience on Bobst equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift
