Job Description

The Plant Supervisor will provide leadership and direction for all production departments to ensure the timely production of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations. They will be responsible for the shift’s production goals, managing the performance of direct reports, making sound operational decisions, solving problems, equipment troubleshooting and managing conflicts.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze work orders and work pieces to determine processes, materials, machines, and sequence of operations.
  • Assign tasks to workers and coordinate workflow to meet production schedules.
  • Ensure necessary stock has arrived and is available and staged in accordance with workflow schedule.
  • Communicate daily with scheduling to determine workload and production performance expectations.
  • Inspect finished pieces visually and using precision measuring devices and work with Quality Control to monitor output.
  • Maintain time and production records and confer with other supervisors/managers to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, actively engage and participate in company training and audits.
  • Investigate malfunction of machines and equipment, determine need for repair and maintenance and ensure employees are following safety regulations.
  • Keep abreast of new products and developments within the department and ensure staffing is appropriate to meet workload requirements and productivity standards and recommend or execute personnel actions such as hiring, evaluations, and promotions.
  • Manage performance by setting goals and consistently holding employees accountable for meeting performance standards through coaching, counseling and timely review process.
  • Confer with management to resolve employee problems, complaints, or grievances and perform other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years plant supervision experience in the printing and packaging industry, ideally high-end finishing and converting.
  • Preferred experience with lean manufacturing and ISO/BRC quality practices and audit experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate effective manufacturing process and system improvements.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate manufacturing team-based problem-solving efforts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
