Job Description

Pre Press Manager will be responsible for handling all steps of the pre-press operation, internal and external, including plate arrival, providing a quality cost effective product to both internal and external customers in a timely, cooperative manner.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight of all design, planning and proofing
  • Creative source for new or revised graphic design and customer mockups
  • Pre-flight, review and correct customer supplied electronic design files
  • Inspect incoming proofs for correctness and overall quality
  • Initiate / attend Review Board Meeting for proper prepress planning
  • Output HP Proof for approval by customer
  • Final file preparation after HP Proof Approval
  • Order/output contract proofs
  • Review / create and review stepped PDF for approval prior to plate production
  • Plate production, external and internal
  • Develop and assist with R&D projects to enhance printing capabilities and to evaluate printing and prepress materials
  • Update and manage Plate Tracking System
  • Create and manage electronic file system including; design files, images, proofs and plates for both outsourced and internally produced printing plates, files and projects
  • Develop and manage daily electronic file back-up system
  • Manage and monitor supplier back-up provided
  • Manage projects, timelines, budgets, equipment and technology for department
  • Supervision, training and development of Graphics and PrePress staff
  • Technical resource and liaison for customers and customer service representatives
  • Manage external relationships with all prepress products, systems and services suppliers
  • Knowledge in color management, ICC profiles and application of information from press characterizations for proofing, plating management
Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Suite and Esko software
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of digital art, graphic design, layout and illustration
  • Familiarity with packaging structure
  • Knowledge of file manipulation and file formats
  • Solid understanding of prepress and print specification for Litho, Flexo
  • Must have good troubleshooting skills and ability to produce quality work within tight deadlines
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience in related capacity in printing industry
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • MacIntosh Illustrator, Freehand, Quark, Photoshop, MS Office
  • Basic math and communication skills
  • Esko experience is required
